Since 1990, shortly after the fall of Communism in the country, Proem Ministries has been working to help share a message that has long been forgotten. With less than 50,000 Evangelical Christians in the whole country, there are plenty of opportunities for ministry. Proem has been effectively planting churches and running camps for years. The Crossing sends teams to work with Pastor Rafal and his team during their “Kontakt Festival,” where Proem takes over the city of Lodz, the third largest city in Poland. It transforms into a city-wide volunteer-driven serving opportunity. Teams come from around the world to participate in city-wide cleanup projects, renovations, and outreach during the day, and put on concerts every night at various venues. The purpose of this week is to give the city a positive contact with their ministry and the church as a whole as Evangelical Christianity is seen as a “cult” in many parts of Poland where Catholicism is the primary religion.
